About the Author

Charles Grocock w as born on 27th September 1942 in a small pit house in the mining village of Denaby Main near the city of Doncaster, England. In 1949 he moved to the city of Bradford where he met and married his wife Barbara. They celebrated their ruby wedding anniversary on the 12th of September 2004 and his 62nd birthday on the 27th of September.

Unfortunately Charles passed away on the 2nd of November 2004. He was a man who loved his family dearly and enjoyed peace, quiet and the world's beautiful nature.

He was recognised as a poet through the international library of poets through which he had poems published in Memories of the Millennium, Best poems and poets of 2001-2002 and Who's Who in Poetry. He received several awards and many outstanding reviews from fellow poets on internet poetry sites.

His work over 40 years has been collected and filed for publication by his youngest son Karl as a tribute to his memory and life long love of poetry. Together with the help of fellow poet Kenneth William Cowle of Soul Asylum Poetry, Canada has made this publication for all ages to enjoy.

Storm Giants.

Thunder crashes way up high,
bolts of lightning light the sky,
rain clouds gather thick and grey
for a storm that’s on the way.

The forest giants, broad with height
reaching upwards with great might,
wait in silence for the rain
vital to prolong life again.

These forest giants tall and grand
looking out across the land,
search deep down within the earth
to try and quench their mighty thirst.

The warming sun has disappeared,
the first raindrops like giant tears
hit the earth and soak away,
the soil is parched, there’s no delay.

Now the heavens open wide,
the rain comes pouring from the sky,
bouncing as it hit’s the earth,
the forest giants quench their thirst.

Forgotten Anniversary.

Have I ever said I love you.
Have I ever said I care.
Have I ever said your beautiful
and you have the nicest hair.

Have I ever said your gorgeous.
Have I ever said your sweet.
Have I ever said your the only girl
who could knock me off my feet.

Have I ever told you all these things
I should because they’re true,
but my darling wife I’m sorry
for I have no gift for you.
