Melanie Parkes began her teaching career almost 40 years ago as a kindergarten teacher in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.  While in this role, she created a unique, highly successful reading program using a self-taught approach, and implemented it long before it was determined that four and five year old children were capable of reading.  Melanie established her own preschool 25 years ago where reading continues to be the main focus.

The first set of books – Tiny Books for Tiny Hands - was published six years ago and has sold throughout North America.  The second set – the Peek-a-Boo Series – was published recently, in celebration of the 25th year of her school.

Melanie’s mission in life is teaching young children and her passion is watching them learn to read.  She truly is pioneer in the field of early literacy.

Melanie and her readers have been featured in Today’s Parent magazine, as well as A-Channel News (formerly the NewVR) and in various local newspaper articles.
