Nan DeNoyer-His Fragrance
Poet, Musician

Nan DeNoyer Profile at soulasyumpoetry.com

A quill expresses a writer, a musician colors with harmonic cords, a painter with their brush. Words become an expression, if I may, a fingerprint of the heart, of who we are, how we think, and our values!  The Word of God/Yahweh etches truth in our Spirit.  Love and beauty are engraved upon the heart for out of the mouth the heart speaks if His Fragrance dwells within.

I am a Psalmist, a writer of sonnets and verse.  My passion is music the birthing of a melody that flows through my being a melodic refrain I have never heard, through its conception to its end of pen to paper and verse.  Its beauty is prepared for a singer or instrumental arrangement layered for piano, strings, guitars, and voicing.

Since I have always written verse I thought I would venture out on another path writing poetry and short stories, which I have found to be pure joy in the doing thereof.

As a small child, I was able to hear the melodies sung and found the resounding keys.  I was told at a young age, I was put on top of the piano and kept time with a knitting needle as my sister played her cello.  I was formally introduced to music when I joined the children’s choir.  My dream was to one day becoming a choir director and playing the big organ.  That became possible later on in life.

As I got older I found I like to make greeting cards with verse and graphic designs.  It was a hobby never dreamed I would be published.  Thinking I might like to work for Hallmark or another Card Company, I took a writing test and they said I was too wordy.  Being young without encouragement that hope never became reality.

Cooking from scratch became another passion, to create those morsels that melt in your mouth.  At home I was always given the chore to just clean up the mess. It wasn’t till I was married that I started to learn to cook.  A very poor one in the beginning if given a compliment about a meal that became the menu of the day.  I found as I matured that great food, music, would knit people together at fellowships and gatherings.  Communication becomes easier when people are relaxed with delicious food truly an icebreaker.  Every time a dish was the first one to be eaten at a picnic, church function or friends home I found out who made the cuisine.  I would ask for the recipe or if the lady was willing to teach me how to prepare the food.  At this time in my life I considered going to culinary school in New York.  In my day there was not loans for furthering your education and during world war two was told to get a factory job.

In my late thirties, I found my greatest passion was still music and verse.  I found an awesome teacher, who taught blind people to play.  Being a world traveler Rosa gave concerts on the largest organs built in the United States.  She was called the artist who colored with music the radio shows like the Shadow Knows in the early forties. I did accomplish one dream, I got to play the big organ, teach music, and have a choir and orchestra.

In my sixties, a new path opened up for me.  I went to bible school, was ordained and traveled with another mentor, with my music and verse.  As Rosa colored the radio shows with her music, I would create musical word pictures for the narrator or the preacher.  I used to say, “Have keyboard will travel”.

May I encourage the reader, age makes no difference, don’t give up your dreams or visions!  Be bold aim for the stars, climb the mountains, take the challenge travel that uncharted path to reach a God given goal!  Stay forever you, “Evergreen” where all the treasures lie!  Life is a journey make it count for others beside yourself!  Be someone who will bloom even in the desert!

Emerson said, “Think me not unkind and rude that I walk alone in grove and glen.  I go to the God of the wood and fetch His word to men”.

D. L. Moody said, “ The world has yet to see what God will do WITH and FOR and THROUGH and IN and BY the man/women who is fully and wholly consecrated to Him”!

We are asked, ask ourselves, “Who am I”?  One could list accomplishment, goals reached.  The gifts God/Yahweh has planted in your Spirit to glorify Him reach for those.  The many expressions, prisms that make up you.. but.. FOREMOST who do you say you are?

At the winter of my life, I say, “I am a Psalmist, a worshiper of the Lord Jesus, the Christ!  Ministering unto the Lord, I open my alabaster box of worship with music and verse, as a sweet smelling aroma unto Him!  Worship is a lifestyle!

I am on a journey, a pilgrim, returning to my Father’s house.  I know my life is not my own!  A vessel that said, “Here am I, use me”!  The love Yahshua put in my heart for Him, demanded nothing less.

The intent of my heart is to be an encourager build up the body of believers, to provoke the reader in love, to consider Yahshua/Jesus.  My desire is to honor my Father and obey Yahshua, my Lord.
