"In sharing this work; I found many who became excited to find that I was able to somehow place their own experiences and thoughts into poetic form. Often I witnessed smiles, tears, and even indifference in some cases. What is most rewarding for me is the gratitude received for simply penning what so many can relate to in their everyday lives; for that I am humbled.
It is my intention to pass on to you what I’ve learned from the village that raised me. To share the concepts that can’t be contributed to any text book, video game, or media outlet. To remind you of the face to face; and the word of mouth that preserves cultures, and creates an appreciation for basic survival skills in humanity.
Finally, I must admit there were times while writing when it was difficult for me to open up emotionally. Considering the amount of vulnerability associated with sharing one’s heart-felt inner workings; I would say that is a given. However, I hope that doing so transforms into something that at the very least entertains you!" Mona Rodriguez
